Description
Yamaha YP-D10 Turntable. Exclusive Version. Shure V15 IV Cartridge. Fully revitalized.
In 1887 Torakusu Yamaha built his first keyboard wind instrument. Ten years later Torakusu established Nippon Gakki Co. Ltd. and produced pianos and reed organs, which were rewarded in 1904 with Honorary Main Reward at the World Fair in Saint Louis. In the following years, the company extended its offer of musical instruments and produced pianos, acoustic guitars, trumpets, percussions, electric guitars, etc. The company also began to produce audio equipment. The first turntables were created in the 1920s, but especially valued hi-fi devices (mainly amplifiers and CD players) and high-quality loudspeakers that complemented them were created in the 70?s and 80?s. In 1955, as the Yamaha Motor Company, the company also dealt with the production of two-wheelers, and from the early 70?s, professional sound equipment currently known as Yamaha Pro Audio.
The Yamaha YP-D10 is the flagship turntable from the late 1970s, belonging to the elite line that also included the YP-D8 and YP-D71. It stands out for its exceptionally stable rotational accuracy, smooth tonearm tracking, and effective vibration damping, all of which contribute to a clean and coherent sound. Thanks to its carefully engineered construction (UR method – micro-vibration control) and multi-stage speed regulation system (ensuring constant platter rotation even under load), the YP-D10 achieves a high level of fidelity in playback, delivering a soundstage free of unnecessary noise. The high-torque motor guarantees fast startup and stable rotation, while the cabinet design and choice of materials help to minimize resonance-induced distortion. The built-in photo-electric auto-stop system automatically lifts the tonearm and stops the motor at the end of playback-a convenient feature that protects both record and stylus from unnecessary wear.
The enclosure of the presented model has undergone complete revitalization. It is crafted from rosewood finished with Chinese oil based on natural oils and natural turpentine-based beeswax. All external and internal metal components of the turntable have been cleaned and refinished using the automotive “wet painting” technique. The unit has been fully inspected and serviced, and fitted with new aluminum feet.
This is a collector’s set. The device is in perfect condition. A record clamp is included.
