Description
Toshiba SX – 150C Stereo Receiver. Classic Vintage. Revitalized.
In 1875, the Japanese Ministry of Engineering commissioned Hisashige Tanaka to build a factory in Tokyo to develop telegraphic equipment. Separately, in 1890, Ichisuke Fujioka founded Hakunetsu-sha Co., Ltd., which produced light bulbs. In 1939 , the two renamed companies (Shibaura Engineering Works and Tokyo Electric Company) merged to form Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co., Ltd.
Although the new company quickly became known as Toshiba, its short name was adopted as the official name of the company in 1984. During World War II, the company recorded a rapid increase because of numerous government orders, a.o. for radios. Moreover, Toshiba is known as the producer of the first radar in Japan (1912), a radio receiver (1924), a transistor TV (1959), a laptop (1986) and a DVD (1995).
SX-150C Stereo Receiver was produced as a part of it was produced as part of a set with the same symbol (valued for great sound quality in relation to the small size of the equipment), which also included a semi-automatic belt drive turntables gramophone and a pair of speakers. That is why we recommend this model especially to the lovers of analog discs. As it was written in 1976 in the Electronics Australia magazine: ” You need to hear it to really appreciate it (the Toshiba SX-150C receiver).”
It is also worth noting that the KR 5150 is characterized by an exceptionally warm sound, as well as high power in relation to its size.
The case has been completely revitalized, made of birch wood. Potentiometers are in perfect condition. New side boards made of exotic jatobe wood make the set look elegant. Wood finish is made with Chinese oil produced of natural oils. The wood feels nice to touch. The front panel is made of aluminium. Beautifully illuminated scale in green, no need for re-tuning. Collector’s model. The device has been completely checked and serviced.
