Description
Pioneer Exclusive P3A Turntable. Classic Vintage. Audio Technica AT OC 9 ML II. Fully revitalized.
In 1937 Nozomu Matsumoto created the first magnetoelectric speaker in Japan, and a year later, he registered in Tokyo the company with the name Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho. In 1961, the company’s name was changed to Pioneer Electronic Corporation. However, the breakthrough came in 1962, when the company entered the Tokyo Stock Exchange and created the world’s first stereo system with speakers in separate housings. Four years later, Pioneer opened branches in the USA and in Europe.
In 1978, the company created one of the best-known and most powerful receivers in its history SX-1980. Pioneer can also be proud of great successes in the world of auto-moto, as it introduced in 1975 the world’s first automotive stereo subassembly, then in 1984 a CD player and GPS navigation in 1990. The company also played a major role in the development of DVDs, plasma TVs and Organic LED display technologies (OLED). The company is currently a part of Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation.
The Exclusive P3A is an enhanced version of Pioneer’s high-end turntable released around 1983. Thanks to the highest quality components, an extremely stable construction, and a weight of over 49 kg, this turntable stands out with crystal-clear sound free from a slightest distortion. The high-torque motor with a dual rotor structure, using a highly powerful anisotropic ferrite magnet, provides a unique, high torque (10 kg-cm). Additionally, the P3A features an improved SHR (Stable Hanging Rotor) bearing structure, enabling rotation accuracy to reach an impressive 0.001%. The base, weighing 14 kg, made of aluminum and high-density barium sulfate, is completely isolated from the enclosure to minimize the impact of acoustic pressure and vibrations from the surface. Moreover, the turntable arm is made of ceramic clay, which is about three times stiffer than conventional aluminum. It is also equipped with a mass concentration system, oil damping regulation, and a Dynamic Resonance Absorber (DRA) with a subresonant casing that absorbs vibrations. Thanks to all the advanced solutions applied in the Exclusive P3A, the signal-to-noise ratio of the original model P3, which was already high at 78 dB, increased to an incredible 95 dB.
The enclosure has been completely revitalized, made of rosewood. The wood finish is Chinese oil produced from natural oils and natural turpentine-based beeswax based. All metal elements, both external and internal, have been cleaned and painted using the automotive wet painting technique. The device has been fully reviewed and serviced. The turntable is equipped with new aluminum feet.
This is a collector’s set. The device is in perfect condition. Record clamp is included.
