In 1937 Nozomu Matsumoto created the first magnetoelectric speaker in Japan, and a year later, in Tokyo, he registered the company under the name Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho. In 1961, the company’s name was changed to Pioneer Electronic Corporation. However, the breakthrough came in 1962, when the company entered the Tokyo Stock Exchange and created the world’s first stereo system with speakers in separate housings. Four years later, Pioneer opened branches in the USA and in Europe. In 1978, the company created one of the best-known and most powerful receivers in its history SX-1980. Pioneer can also be proud of great successes in the world of auto-moto, as it introduced in 1975 the world’s first automotive stereo subassembly, then in 1984 a CD player and GPS navigation in 1990. The company also played a major role in the development of DVDs, plasma TVs and technologies Organic LED display (OLED). The company is currently part of Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation.
The Exclusive M4a is a Class A power amplifier launched by Pioneer in 1981, the ?golden age? of audio equipment. It is an upgraded version of the M4 bestseller characterised by top quality and transparent and clear, distortion-free sound. Distortion has been eliminated by using the push-pull circuit, oxygen-free copper wire, gold-plated terminals and a special coating of the non-magnetic base for more stability. In order to achieve ideal sound various types of capacitors, such as Mylar, STICON and electrolytic ones, as well as non-magnetic resistors, have been used. Also, the Exclusive M4a is equipped with a 15A double-insulated and durable power cable of high capacity. The signal cables are shielded with special polymer material and braided. Thanks to these solutions it is possible to transmit a high quality signal with low loss. Fan noise is eliminated by low speed and low voltage.
The Exclusive C3a is a classic Class A stereo preamplifier launched by Pioneer in 1981, the “golden era” of audio. The technical specification of the C3a is impressive as it was designed using advanced technology and carefully selected top quality parts. Among other things, conventional epoxy resin substrates with 35 u copper foil were used. To reduce DCR (DC resistivity) and inductance, 140 u copper foil, four times thicker than conventional, was used in the substrate. The wiring material is an oxygen-free copper wire, which heavily reduces distortion. In addition, to ensure stable performance and reliability, conductive properties were improved (compared to previous models) thanks to the use of gold-plated terminals. The sound of the C3a is simply exceptional. A wide and extremely rich soundstage engages every listener. The bass is dynamic, transparent and deep. The midrange is characteristic of class A – warm and very pleasant to the ear. The highs are detailed and balanced.
The enclosures have been completely revitalized – rosewood was used. The wood finish is Chinese oil produced from natural oils, and natural turpentine-based beeswax. The metal elements of the enclosures have been cleaned and painted using the automotive wet painting technique. The devices have been fully reviewed and serviced, they have been equipped with new aluminum legs.
