Description

Amplituner Kenwood TRIO KR 5150. Classic Vintage. Completely revitalized.

Kenwood company was established in Japan in 1946 as Kasuga Radio Co. Ltd. In 1960 the company was renamed Trio Corporation. In 1963 the first overseas office was founded in Los Angeles County, California, USA. The name Kenwood was invented by Kasuga as being the combination of “Ken”, a name common to Japan and North America, and an English word “Wood”, as well as suggesting a relation to Hollywood, California. The company was supposed to be the exclusive importer of Trio products in USA. The brand recognition of Kenwood eventually surpassed that of Trio’s, and in 1986 Trio bought Kenwood and renamed itself Kenwood. Kenwood merged with JVC in 2008 as JVC Kenwood and is currently one of the JVCKENWOOD Corporation brands. The Kenwood brand is famous for its production of car audio equipment, home hi-fi, CB radios and walkie-talkies. In addition, it is in no way related to the British home appliances manufacturer, Kenwood Ltd.

The KR 5150 model, although produced for the first time in 1970, is definitely something for fans of the 1960s. The black-and-silver front panel features a beautifully highlighted amber green scale, black potentiometers and characteristic white buttons. Kenwood advertised this model with the slogan “The Top of The Class” in addition to excellent design it also emphasized the great quality and reliability of this receiver.

The case has been completely revitalized, is made of Canadian maple wood that makes the set look elegant. The wood finish is Chinese oil produced of natural oils. Wood feels nice to touch. The front panel is made of aluminum. The scale does not need to be re-tuned. Potentiometers are in perfect condition. The device has been completely checked and serviced. Collector’s item!

The LOUDNESS button after switching on does not always remain in the ON position
